Alaska Business Week is a summer opportunity for high school students who want "hands on" training in business. Students can earn 2 college credits (plus high school credit) by working with a team to organize and run a complex business model throughout the week. The dates are June 1-8th at UAF in Fairbanks. Cost can be covered through allotment. You can read all of the details here, and apply online here. One of our UL graduates, Luke Ringger, attended two years ago and highly recommends the program! That's Luke on the far right.
High School students (currently in grades 8-12) are invited to apply for this year's summer course (June 6-16) that includes a 5-day raft trip on the Copper River from Chitina to Cordova! You can earn 1/2 environment science credit for participating. This is a wonderful opportunity, so take time to read about the details of the trip on the Copper River Stewardship program's website, then apply! You need one adult reference letter . . . plan ahead! Your application is due by March 15th - find it here.
The Rural Alaska Honors Institute (RAHI) is accepting applications for the 2013 summer program. Rural and Alaska Native high school juniors and seniors are invited to apply for the six-week program. Students live in dorms on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus and take college courses in a variety of subjects. Students also learn study skills, time management and earn 8 to 10 college credits. There is no cost for selected students. Applications are due March 1. For application materials and more information, visit www.uaf.edu/rahi or call 907-474-6603.
